What Is It: Ant-Man is the origin story of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as Ant-Man as well as the final film in Phase II of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film also includes the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), as well as his daughter Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly).
My experience: I saw the film opening weekend and was disappointed to see how empty the theater was. A lot of the easter eggs Marvel slipped in seemed largely ignored by the audience, and even half the people there left before the mid- and post-credits scenes had come up. I myself found the film to be enjoyable even though it clearly isn't one of the stronger MCU films. I actually liked it more than Age of Ultron due in large part to Paul Rudd's performance and scene stealers Michael Peña, T.I., and David Dastmalchian. Why You Should See It: This film does a good job of tying itself into MCU, thanks to a few significant cameos. And you should DEFINITELY stay for the post-credits scene featuring some early footage from Captain America: Civil War. The Future: Paul Rudd will be portraying Ant-Man in the next MCU film Captain America: Civil War, due out May 16, 2016.
