The Artist: Nathan Sykes The Song: "More Than You'll Ever Know" The YouTube Link: Check it out below! Where you heard it first: Either right now or via Nathan's twitter account. It's a sneak peek of his debut solo album, but not the first single.
Why it’s been stuck in your head: Hello. I'm Christina and I'm still addicted to boybands. The Wanted may have gone their separate ways in an NSYNC style hiatus, but they all of course have their own plans for their career futures. Nathan is in the process of rebranding himself as a solo artist, and he definitely has the vocal talent to make it. I thought the same about JC, but hopefully Nathan finds success. Why you recommend it to our listeners: You probably best know Nathan Sykes as either the guy who hits the big notes in "I Found You" or as the guy who used to date Ariana Grande. But what you need to know is his voice is amazing. I can't wait for his solo album to drop.

Check out our interview with rageprufrock, the first writer in our Love Your Fandom series! Then you can do a little reading over at AO3.
What is your method for writing (ie. by hand, on the computer, out of order…)? Always on a computer, always telling the story in linear order. I very rarely make significant edits in stories once I start, and I very rarely start stories unless I already have a clear idea of where the plot will progress. Writing longhand takes too long, and my hand ends up cramping up. Worse, my hand can’t keep up with my brain, so it turns the writing process into a frustrating exercise in self-torture. Where do you get your inspiration? I could not even begin to explain where the ideas come from. There’s this whole debate in philosophy about what consciousness is, and on the more fringe discussions of science, about whether or not consciousness comes from the brain, or if the brain is just the receiver for consciousness. Sometimes I think story ideas come to me pre-formed; sometimes I get drunk and think “this would be hilarious” and then nobody stops me. What are your primary fandoms? I’m fannishly migratory. Currently, I’m writing in MCU and reading whatever catches my fancy, which could be anything really. I currently have stories from Inception and The Borgias opened on my browser. Also Supernatural is my ride together die together fandom so you know, I deserve everyone’s pity for that awful life choice. What project have you always wanted to do? In my head I still have a fully articulated plot for an X-Files miniseries. What is your favorite work? This is liable to change at any time, but I love (Un)covered, an NCIS story where I made Anthony DiNozzo Antonia DiNozzo and used as an opportunity to do a lot of online designer imaginary shopping. What is one thing fandom doesn’t know about you? In college, my nickname was McKay (after SGA’s Rodney) because on top of my existing childhood allergies, I was developing some hella fun adult-onset ones in the form of most fruits. GOOD TIMES. Let’s go back to: "Lazy Sunday"
Lazy Sunday was a short video by The Lonely Island, and it has the distinction of being the second SNL digital short. It features Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell singing as the wander Manhattan in preparation of attending a matinee of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Why it means something to you or to our podcast: This could very well be considered the beginning of Andy Samberg's career. Just today he was announced as this year's Emmy Awards host. Internet searches for the video also helped launch a small little video hosting site called YouTube. You might have heard of it. Where can you find it now?: Right here. Ironically, it can't be found on YouTube. ![]() Check out our interview below with artist katieisfinallytumbling, then check her out on Tumblr to see more of her amazing work! What program/tools do you use? I use Photoshop Elements 11 and a Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch Small. Pretty basic, as far as things go, but I’ve found that they’re easy to use and get the job done just fine! Where do you get your inspiration? My inspiration comes from many places, depending on how I’m feeling and what I’ve seen. Sometimes I’m inspired by a text post, a promotional picture, or a scene, and sometimes I’m inspired to do art out of spite. Most frequently, it’s a mix of the above with some procrastination thrown in. What are your primary fandoms? That tends to fluctuate with what fandoms are active, but the constants are Orphan Black and the MCU umbrella. Other contenders are Night Vale, Carmilla, and Rooster Teeth. What project have you always wanted to do? I’d love to do something animated! It’s a little beyond my scope right now, especially considering PSE doesn’t have any animation capability, but it’s something to keep in mind for the future! What is your favorite work? Definitely my portrait of Widow; I have a tendency to see magnified flaws once I finish a piece and I still actually like that one which is kind of a first for me. What is one thing fandom doesn’t know about you? I’m obsessed with small plants and cute planters. I have a succulent in a toy ibex planter and it’s adorable. Don’t even get me started on my candle collection. We here at A Little Nerd Music love fandom. Obviously. We love not only the works that inspire fandom, but the works CREATED by fandom. So we're starting a series here called "Love Your Fandom." We'll be interviewing artists and writers from all across fandom to find out more about their process and where/how they get their inspiration. If you have a favorite, send us a message and we'll reach out to them! Look for our first interview later today.

If you don’t know by now that Spider-Man will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then I am jealous of the untethered life you lead. I imagine you’ve been spending the time lounging on a remote beach on your own private island in the Caribbean. Meanwhile, here at ALNM, we've been keeping up on all the latest the Internet has to offer on recent developments. We've gathered up the facts, the rumors, and our own ideas for you in one nifty little article below. What we know so far In the infamous Sony hacking scandal, e-mails leaked showing Sony and Marvel were in talks to have Spider-Man appear in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. It was said those talks fell through. This caused everyone to be simultaneously excited and disappointed at the same time. All anyone could do was wait for a supposed summit by Sony execs in January to discuss the future of the Spider-Man franchise. On February 9th, 2015, everything changed. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced that Spider-Man would be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony would retain the rights to the character and still have final creative control over any future Spider-Man films. A new Spider-Man solo film will be released on July 28th, 2017 and will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. This version of Spider-Man will make an earlier appearance in another MCU film. The Song: "Rise" by Darren Criss The YouTube Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYA9gqfsmEI Where you heard it first: Glee 6x10 - "The Rise and Fall of Sue Sylvester" Why it’s been stuck in your head: If you know anything about me, you know that I love Darren Criss and everything that he does, so it's no surprise that I was extremely excited to learn that he would be writing two original songs for the final episodes of Glee. In Friday night's episode, they premiered this song and it was sung by the New Directions/Warblers super-group that was created with the destruction of Dalton Academy. While I was hoping that Darren would at least get to sing his own songs, it turns out that he will not be singing either one, but during this performance, he looked on with pride as they performed in new "Warbler/New Directions" blazers. Why you recommend it to our listeners: If any of you have had the chance to listen to Darren Criss' original work, you know that he is quite a talented lyricist and songwriter. His degree in Musicology and Musical Theatre probably helps that tremendously. He has been saying that he would release a solo album since 2013 and we have yet to find out any more about this. Until then, and while we're enjoying the last episodes of Glee, do yourself a favor and give this song a listen. -- Kelly Lee

Let’s go back to: The 1991 cult classic Hook, starring Dustin Hoffman and the late Robin Williams and directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie tells the story of an adult Peter Pan who must return to Neverland to rescue his children from the legendary pirate, Captain James Hook. The only problem is that Peter Banning, as he is now called, doesn't remember anything about Neverland after he stayed in our world to marry Wendy's granddaughter Moira Darling. With the help of the Lost Boys and their leader Rufio, Peter remembers what it means to be "The Pan" and realizes that his most powerful happy thoughts are the times he was with his children.
Why it means something to you or to our podcast: As a child, I grew up on watching this movie. My sister and I used to watch it all the time and ran down two VHS tapes before it finally came out on DVD. This movie is amazing and doesn't get enough credit. Directed by Steven Spielberg and with a score composed by none other than John Williams, this movie also stars Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, Fandom Academy Award Winner for Best Supporting Actress, Dame Maggie Smith as Granny Wendy, and the late Bob Hoskins as Mr. Smee. Perhaps the best part of the movie for those of us who remember watching this movie as a child is the Lost Boys. Rufio is a young Lost Boy who loves never growing up and who has named himself the leader of the Lost Boys. Together, the Lost Boys coin the phrase "Bangarang!", something that children of the 90's will all recognize. I can't say enough good things about this movie! Do yourself a favor and see this movie! Where can you find it now? This movie has become quite the cult classic and can be found streaming on Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. As a real throwback, I give you the original movie trailer:
