The Artist: The Maine The Song: "Am I Pretty?" Where you heard it first: I first heard this song when I bought the new album from my favorite band, but today is the day that the powerful music video debuted on YouTube and watching it for the first time brought tears to my eyes. Why it’s been stuck in your head: The powerful message of the music video makes the listener hear the lyrics in a completely different way. Instead of this being a song about whether we think we're pretty or not, it's a song about whether we think we're good enough or not. It makes us see our peers in a different way and look at everyone a little closer to see what exactly is beautiful about them. Why you recommend it to our listeners: Though The Maine sometimes puts out goofy and fun tracks about hanging out with your best friends and getting drunk in bars, there are times when the lead singer, John O'Callaghan brings us a song that we never thought had a deeper meaning until he explains them a little better. Case in point, "Jenny" off of Pioneer is about how he wouldn't be who he is today without the support of his mother and "Every Road" off of Black and White is about how his grandfather never thought that a career in music would pay the bills. "Am I Pretty?" is just another example of the deep meanings that music can have for all of us. -- Kelly Lee

iTunes Episode 036 - “You Sank My Battleship!” Episode Length: 1:09:27 Episode Summary: In our thirty-sixth episode, we’re all about shipping and our second annual Ship Bracket! We start off with a little Fandom News, casting news, and letting everyone know that we #StandWithKesha at this difficult time in her career. In our main discussion, we talk about some of our favorite current ships, ships we hope will sail in the coming year, our favorite BrOTPs and so much more. Of course, our second annual shipping episode wouldn’t be complete without giving a little love to our favorite ship and the winner of this year’s A Little Nerd Music Ship Bracket. We remind all our shipping voters to love one another and keep the bashing to a minimum before Kelly finally relinquishes the reigns of the episode over to Christina to gush about the newest full length trailer for Captain America: Civil War. Christina touches on which hero is on which team and where we here at ALNM stand on the teams before we talk about everything else the trailer revealed: Black Panther, Ant-Man, Stucky love, and most importantly, the reveal of Tom Holland as the newest incarnation of Spiderman. Our episode MVPs are none other than the directors of the upcoming Captain America movie, The Russo Brothers and Christina shares why she loves them before we get into our Ship Moments with Stucky and Swanfire. As always, we remind all of you wonderful followers about the various platforms where you can follow us, tweet us, download our episodes, or contact us. Tune in next time for the beginnings of the season finales for TV’s fall season! This week’s featured music: "Blah Blah Blah" by 3OH!3 featuring Kesha “Ship To Wreck" by Florence + The Machine The Artist: American Authors The Song: "Pride" Where you heard it first: I first heard this song on Ellen when American Authors introduced their new single to the world. If you know anything about me, you probably know that this band is my new favorite obsession and their last album has been on repeat ever since it was released in 2014. I'm so excited to hear new music from this Brooklyn-based band and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Why it’s been stuck in your head: American Authors have never disappointed with their music off their first album and I'm excited to hear the upbeat sound that made them successful before is still a part of why they're so great. I have been listening to this song on repeat since I heard it and there's no sign of me getting sick of it any time soon. Why you recommend it to our listeners: Keeping with the sound of "Best Day of My Life" and "Home", "Pride" is so fun to listen to, bounce along to, and sing along to. I promise you won't regret singing it at the top of your lungs. -- Kelly Lee

I just noticed people are still commenting on the poll itself, including people pretending to be both my co-host and myself. So I'm saying this again and this is the last time:
Kindest regards, Your ACTUAL ALNM Mod Christina The Band: Lukas Graham The Song: 7 Years The YouTube Link: Where you heard it first: I heard this song on the radio the other day and immediately rushed to check it out. The biggest surprise was probably that Lukas Graham is a band and not a person.
Why it’s been stuck in your head: I've actually haven't heard it anywhere since that first radio play, and maybe that's the reason it stuck with me. Why you recommend it to our listeners: The easy going vibe and quirky vocals make it stand out from a lot of the music currently in rotation for my commutes. It'll get your head bobbing as you drive down the road. Definitely worth adding to your playlist. EDIT #3: We have asked you repeatedly to stop the hate and now people are going so far as to impersonate us and declare a winner. THE POLL IS CLOSED and now the comments section has been shut down as well. Please stop your hatred toward one another. EDIT #2: Seriously everyone, the poll is closed. Please stop with the hate. EDIT: Polls closed. We had to give several warnings last round and we gave another warning this round. Bashing each other, posting inappropriate comments, and sending hate to our personal accounts is not tolerated behavior. If we see an improvement today we will reopen the polls. Otherwise we will take the current tally as total and announce the winner as planned.
