In an ALNM Podcast exclusive, theorlandojones is awesome. Ok, you probably all already knew that. But he was nice enough to answer a few questions for us! I don’t think we’ve been so excited since we started this podcast. Check them out below! -C
1. If you woke up 200 years in the future, what would you do? If I woke up 200 years in the future, I’d first binge watch all my favorite shows in whatever way people watch TV shows in the future. No spoilers people. Then I’d get some food and go tie one on with Nicolas Cage, he’ll still be around because he’s a vampire. They know how to party. 2. What are your hopes for your character moving forward? I know Frank is a married man but I’m hoping for a very special Mr. and Mrs. BAMF booty call episode. 3. What is your favorite charity? My favorite charity is jrCEOs (www.jrceos.org) a non-profit that teaches entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business fundamentals to minority and lower income middle and high school students.

Lots of casting news this time around for Arrow, The Flash, Marvel’s Agent Carter, and Penny Dreadful. We say goodbye to Joan Rivers and congratulate Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka on their marriage as well as congratulating Duchess Catherine of Cambridge on the announcement of another Royal Baby. Christina gives us a spoiler-free preview of The Maze Runner after pre-screening the movie (lucky duck!) and encourages us all to see it too. We give you a roundup of season and series premieres for the month of September, too. In our main discussion, we talk about all things Teen Wolf. We discuss the finale and what might happen in season five. We also review how well the new cast members did this season; especially those who we’d like to see back for season five. We revisit the predictions we made back in Episode #8 and see how we did with the season. (Hint: Christina did much better than Kelly…as she always does) As always, we share our Episode MVP, Sheriff Stilinski, but are at a complete loss for Ship Moments, which is an ALNM first. Be sure to join us for our next episode covering The Maze Runner and the first batch of season premieres for the new fall TV season! Disclaimer: Please excuse the noise coming from Kelly’s end of the recording. She’s currently experiencing a heat wave in Southern California and needs to have the air conditioning running in order to function properly. This week’s featured music: “Loba” by Shakira “Semi-Charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind What Is It: The Maze Runner is the movie adaptation of James Dashner’s 2007 novel. Thomas (portrayed by Dylan O’Brien) finds himself flung into the Glade surrounded by an everchanging maze and populated by a group of boys who, like himself, remember nothing of their previous lives. It quickly becomes clear that their new lives weren’t as stable as they thought.
My experience: I was lucky enough to see the movie early on September 3rd (thanks Gofobo!). It was a great crowd and not as young as I imagine the movie’s actual demographic will be. I haven’t read the book yet, but still found the overall movie extremely enjoyable and definitely worthy of a full franchise treatment. The past few book adaptations I’ve seen were let downs (I’m looking at you Mortal Instruments). This one definitely stands up to scrutiny as a film on it’s own, and judging by the reaction of those around me it will still please fans of the book. Why You Should See It: While the plot is interesting, as much as any of these youth dystopian dramas that seem to be popping up like daises, it’s the characters that are the strength of the movie. Everyone is perfectly cast. You’ll recognize several of them from other roles, but within the first few scenes you completely forget about that and see them solely as these characters. The humor is spot on and balanced well with the intense action. Even the special effects do exactly what they’re meant to: complement the story without overwhelming it. The end definitely leaves you anxious for the next film without making you feel like you should have just waited for the DVD box set. The Future: The movie will be released nationwide on September 19th. It will be the first movie released in Barco’s new Escape format at select theaters. This uses three digital projectors on three screens to create a panoramic image. The sequel, Scorch Trials, has been green lit and is entering pre-production. Dropbox download link
