![]() Give our interview below with Sam Beck a read, then go check out her amazing work! What program/tools do you use? I use Photoshop for almost all my work along with a Wacom Bamboo tablet. I sometimes like to ink traditionally, and when I do I use a Pentel brush and Pilot fine liners. Where do you get your inspiration? A lot of my inspiration comes from other great artists I find on tumblr. Right now a few of my bigger inspirations are Paul Reinwand, Jake Wyatt, Winston Young, and Jillian Tamaki. I draw a lot of inspiration from comic books, one of my all-time favourite artists is Taiyō Matsumoto. I also adore vintage illustrations, especially in advertising and package design. What are your primary fandoms? Dragon Age and Vikings at the moment! What project have you always wanted to do? My dream is to illustrate a children's book. My earliest memory of really appreciating art was reading Janell Cannon's books: Stellaluna and Verdi, and agonizing over the detail in the characters. Those books have stuck with me for a long time. Something a bit more fandom related- I would like to do a small Vikings zine! The more swords I can draw, the better. What is your favorite work? This small selection of Tarot cards is still something I look back at and like, it's also a project I would want to continue. What is one thing fandom doesn’t know about you? I love collecting random types of paper, like the inside of an envelope with a neat pattern, or paper samples from when I worked as a print designer. I keep telling myself that I will use them for an art project- but I can't bring myself to draw on them just yet.
