Let’s go back to: 1977, when a little film called Star Wars hit theaters. Taking place "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away," the film took the classic themes of Greek tragedy and turned it into a space opera that defined a generation. The franchise is one of the highest grossing in history with ten Academy Awards. The rights were recently bought by Disney, who are working quickly to expand the movie universe as well as the franchise's presence at its theme parks.
Why it means something to you or to our podcast: While I may like the films, my lovely co-host Kelly is a Star Wars fanatic (like you didn't know already). If you every need someone to fangirl with about it, just drop her an e-mail.
Where can you find it now? Go check out the seventh movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this coming Thursday (Dec 17th).
