Let’s go back to: Star Wars!!! Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) tells the story of a young boy named Luke Skywalker who joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a pilot and his furry co-pilot, and two droids to rescue a princess and save the universe from the clutches of the evil Empire controlled by the villain Darth Vader. The series continued with The Empire Strikes Back (1980), The Return of the Jedi (1983), The Phantom Menace (1999), The Attack of the Clones (2002), and The Revenge of the Sith (2005). J.J. Abrams is bringing this amazing franchise back to life this year with a brand-new installment The Force Awakens due in theatres December 18, 2015. Why it means something to you or to our podcast: How could it not mean something to us? Here at ALNM, both of us LOVE this franchise and as it continues to expand, we hope that it will just get better and better. Star Wars was the first experience I ever had in any sort of fandom community, having watched the movie with my dad at the age of six. Since then, I've been to three midnight release shows, dressed up as a Jedi, Princess Leia, and Han Solo on more than one occasion, and TONIGHT I'm going to Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim! There are not enough good things to sat about this amazing franchise. It not only is a story that can be loved by all ages, but its special effects were far beyond its time and forever split the fandom community into Trekkies and Jedi. With the release of the new movie a mere seven months away, fans are more excited than ever and are anxiously awaiting the newest chapter in the Star Wars saga. Where can you find it now? Last week, the digital collection of the films were released on iTunes and Amazon and the movies can be found wherever movies are sold! It might take you some time to find the original VHS tapes, though.
